Nicholas’ Philosophy
Life can be chaotic and full of day to day struggles. Do you feel you have been held back for a long time, that you have been unable to make the most of life? Have you had a difficult breakup or a relationship that has been troubling you? Are you single and concerned about where you will find future companionship? Bereaved? Do you feel drained by work? Feel lost in your family? Feel like you are going around your head in circles with nagging sense of unhappiness?
Most of the time we can deal with these situations ourselves or with help from our family and friends. However, there are times when we feel alone and have difficulty coping. Often there are things we don’t want to discuss with anyone we know. For example, existential crises come from the fact we live a short life and struggle to make the most of that time.
We all instinctively know that talking our problems through helps us when we are in distress. Exploring things through a clean channel with a trained listener may be helpful, is often refreshing, gives new perspectives and usually releases a new lease of life.
All kinds of issues can be talked through in a safe, totally confidential and non-judgemental setting with Nicholas’ support as a professional. He will help you to make sense of how you are feeling; what's happening in your life right now and help you to make the changes you want.
Nicholas’ Approach
Nicholas is interested in treating the people he sees holistically. He has developed a solid working relationship with Integrative Functional Medicine over the last ten years and understands the pivotal role of psychotherapy for addressing the mental, emotional and spiritual issues at the heart of a person’s ‘matrix’. He believes that these impact the body and can lead to clinical imbalances such as structural integrity issues, energy dysregulation, and assimilation mentally, emotionally and physically. In therapy, he sees these propelled by defences, projections and numerous other psychological and emotional mechanisms.
Nicholas, too, works integratively, incorporating traditional psychoanalytic practices as well as humanistic and person-centred approaches, together with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to combat Negative Automatic Thoughts and schemas. He also employs Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Gendlin into his work.
People from all walks of life have come to Nicholas to resolve their personal issues, enabling them to live life to the full and make the most of their time - the most precious resource we have!
